Chris Wilder and goalkeeping coach Alan Hodgkinson were on home soil at Bramall Lane, but their Oxford side couldn't create a cup upset at the home of Sheffield United. The writing was on the wall fairly early when Evans fired The Blades 1-0 up within 12 minutes. Less than ten minutes later, the home side had doubled their lead when Evans hit his second. But for the heroics of Ryan Clarke, it could have been much worse at half time. Oxford's talismanic striker James Constable came off the bench at half time and led a mini revival during a spell where The U's looked like they might make something of a game of it. It wasn't to last however, when substitute Flynn stabbed the ball home after a rare error from Clarke left him with an open net. An impressive and noisy Oxford following put their League One opposition fans to shame, but they will have to settle for getting behind their side in just the league for the rest of the season.
Final Score: Sheffield United 3 - 0 Oxford United
