United came away with all three points after an epic encounter against Port Vale at the United Stadium. The U's took the lead in the 11th minute when Michael Duberry climbed above everybody and headed home a Peter Leven corner. Vale equalised in the 62nd minute when Richards fired home from close quarters after a good move unlocked the Oxford defence. United got the winner two minutes later when Peter Leven spotted the keeper off the line and chipped him from 54 yards out! Vale had a penalty saved by Ryan Clarke late on to secure the three points for The U's.
